Can a Human Become God?
Deccan Herald; Date: 15-Jun-07
The following is a conversation between He (Supreme Being or God) and he (a human being):
he: God, I need your help. I am confused about a concept and I think only you can resolve the confusion.
He: Go ahead, friend. What is the confusion?
he: I often come across personalities or objects who people believe are either God or some form of divine energy. While I am often tempted to believe they indeed are God or divine, somehow I am yet not convinced. I think since you are God, only you can have the final word. Can a human being or any object ever be God or have divine powers?
He: Well, I think as a human being you are sufficient enough to answer your question. Nevertheless, I will help you to do so. Just ask yourself: do you believe that you have everything inside you to bravely face any circumstance you may face in life?
he: (Scratches his head) To tell you the truth, no.
He: hats brave of you to say so. But, this is the root of the confusion. The more you believe you lack something, the more you try to find it in somebody else. It is a self-fulfilling exercise.
he: So, is there something wrong in doing so? Could you please elaborate?
He: First of all, if you truly believe in God, be assured that you have everything inside you to bravely face any circumstance you may face in life. More importantly, if you still think you lack something, the search should begin and end inside you.
he: So, how is it different now?
He: To my mind, most human beings (as you confessed) don’t really believe that they have everything inside them to lead their lives. Moreover, they start their search inside them but, more often than not, end up finding it in somebody else. That’s the moment when they start to believe that the “somebody else” must probably be “God” or some “divine form”.
he: If everybody starts and ends their search inside themselves, wont we all become self-proclaimed Gods?
He: On the contrary, my dear friend. When that does really happen, everybody shall truly become a complete human being!
he: I understood your explanation, God. But, I have one last question. If we all truly become human beings and don’t need somebody else to be God or have divine powers, what happens to your existence?
He: (Laughs) Dear friend, do you still think I have any independent existence right now or will have any then?
he: (Smiles) I think I know what you are trying to say. The above conversation was inside me – between me and myself.
He: You got it exactly right. Remember, if you are a complete human being, God is within you. Else, there is no God – either within you or in somebody else.
