When Will Everything Be Fine?
Life Positive Plus; Date: March '10)
The tsunami may have caused large-scale destruction, but man is not defeated. It killed thousands of our brethren, leaving women wailing for their children and orphans sobbing out of terror. Nevertheless, mankind will always reiterate that one mantra, which is said, heard and believed in every heart that beats: Everything will be fine.
How do we know this? What makes us so sure? Those who doubt can look for answers at the external world or look at the kingdom within us. The external world cannot yield these answers. More often than not, frustration starts to creep in and the zest to find answers is taken over by the anger to kill the question. But, if we choose to look inside us, we shall find the truth. Our experiences of life always teach us that if we are alive today, it is because we have chose to rebuild our lives.
Though many of us may not have experienced an ocean-borne tsunami, many of us have faced a tsunami in our personal lives. Loss of a dear one, tragic ending of close relationships, and being cheated by someone we trusted are some of the situations which cause havoc in our lives. Apart from the frustration and depression they cause, these tsunamis certainly take our life to newer shores. Some of us realize this very soon and start rebuilding their lives but many of us take our own time. Neither approach is better than the other. Actually, the choice one makes is just an indication of how soon one will be prepared to face yet another tsunami.
Events like the recent tsunami will recur in our external as well as personal lives. But each one of us, who is alive today, in spite of all the past tsunamis, knows that Mother Nature has been kind enough to spare us to prepare ourselves for the next tsunami. And the power to surmount any tsunami lies in the belief that everything will be fine. This simple faith keeps the mankind going.
